During 2008, we will continue to drive forward a detailed programme to implement our people strategy and address the challenge of an increasingly competitive market.
We recognise that in order to succeed we must attract, retain and motivate our employees to achieve their full potential and we work with employee representatives to offer the right opportunities and reward packages.
During the year, we continued to build on our investment in our people by evolving our people strategy to meet our Changing Energy objectives and to address the challenge of an increasingly competitive employment market.
The strategy focuses on four key areas:
- Developing leadership excellence by clearly defining the role of a leader, creating senior role models, continued leadership development programmes and embedding leadership criteria in our recruitment decisions
- Developing the right skills and behaviours through our recruitment and development processes and addressing skills shortages in key areas like engineering
- Delivering operational excellence by ensuring that our people processes provide the best possible environment for employees and potential employees
- Developing our brand as an employer to attract the best people, as well as further enhancing employee engagement in Changing Energy to help them become advocates for the E.ON brand
