Power Discovery Zone Truck

Power Discovery Zone

Educating children to stay safe around electrical equipment is extremely important and we help to spread awareness of this through our Power Discovery Zone trucks. We have two trucks in the Midlands that are available to visit schools across the whole of the region. The trucks are responsible for educating and spreading the message of staying safe around our network and reach around 18,000 children every year.

The Power Discovery Zone trucks not only visit schools but also attend a number of agricultural and county shows and similar events such as the Shrewsbury Boomerang and Kite Festival throughout the summer. When visiting these shows, the truck is accompanied by the community safety trailer. The community trailer provides information (both in written format and in one to one advice from staff) to members of the public on safety issues associated with angling, farming, and caravanning and promotes our CableSafe initiative.

To support the Power Discovery Zone trucks, the online resource teaches children how to stay safe around electricity through fun features such as games, experiments, fact files, a monthly competition and jargon buster. There is also a teacher’s zone with downloadable teaching resources and curriculum links.
