Biomass
Power stations fuelled by biomass offer an exciting alternative to traditional fossil-fired plant.
E.ON is a leader in the development of biomass generation and currently operates one of the UK’s largest dedicated biomass plants at Steven’s Croft in Scotland, with others in the pipeline.
Our latest success is planning consent to build a new renewable energy plant at the site of a former coal-fired power station in Sheffield. Once built, the new power station will produce enough power for around 40,000 homes and displace the emission of around 80,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year, by burning ‘carbon neutral’ fuel in place of traditional fuels like coal and gas.
