Offshore elements
Following The Crown Estate's Round 3 tender process, we were awarded exclusive development rights to seek consent to build and operate an offshore wind farm in an area initially called Zone 6.
This Zone is located in the English Channel, off the Sussex coast, and has an overall area of 271 square kilometres. It extends from around 13km to 26km offshore and occupies an irregular elongated area, which measures around 28km east to west and around 10km north to south.
The Rampion site itself covers an area of 167 square kilometres, and excludes areas with waters deeper than 50m, due to engineering constraints.
Offshore elements of the Rampion Offshore Wind
The offshore elements of the project consist of the following:
- up to 195 wind turbines and foundations
- two offshore platforms for electricity substations
- buried subsea intra and inter-array cables linking the turbines to the offshore electricity platforms
- four subsea export cables, two from each offshore substation, which will transfer the electricity to shore
