Community focus

E.ON UK cares about the environment and recognises the environmental impact our energy production business could have. That is why we use our expertise and innovation to ensure that we act in a responsible manner and continually work to lessen our impact on the environment.

Climate change is a key driver for us and we are actively managing our carbon dioxide emissions in a number of ways:

  • We have one of the largest investment programmes in renewable energy in the UK.
  • We have invested in improving the efficiency of our plant and we ensure that energy efficiency is integrated into all our operations.
  • We are leaders in the development of carbon trading.
Our strong environmental management systems ensures we comply with all environmental regulations, and where possible aim to exceed the minimum legal requirements. This is reflected in our ISO 14001 certification. We work to preserve and, where possible, improve the character of the surroundings in which we operate. We have a formal biodiversity policy that commits us to a range of actions, and many of our sites have local biodiversity action plans. This active management is increasing the diversity of wildlife at these sites and many others.
