Wind

With the UK being the windiest country in Europe we are well placed to take advantage of this natural resource. Wind energy is regarded as one of our most promising renewable energy technologies - it's a relatively mature industry and is long established as a viable option for UK power generation.

We're committed to the development of wind farms, both onshore and offshore and have a significant number of projects in various stages of development.

In April 2010 we completed construction on our third offshore wind farm, Robin Rigg, located in the Solway Firth. This 180MW site is one of the largest offshore wind farms in the UK and the first in Scottish waters.

We're building the first 630MW phase of the London Array offshore wind farm with our partners Dong Energy and Masdar. Once the full 1,000MW project is built, this will be the largest offshore wind farm in the world and could supply the electricity needs of around 750,000 homes each year.

In 2012 we completed construction of two onshore wind farms in the UK, Tween Bridge in Doncaster and Rosehall in Sutherland. We also have a further wind farm in Scotland currently under construction - Camster in the Highlands.
